Explore Bloomfield Hills

Get out and explore our local communities! It's a great way to learn about different neighborhoods and areas (and a chance to revisit local favorites you may have forgotten). Today is a great day to head over to Bloomfield Hills and visit the Cranbrook Educational Community. Cranbrook is renowned for its architecture in the Arts and Crafts and Art Deco styles. The chief architect was Eliel Saarinen with Albert Kahn responsible for the Booth mansion. Sculptors Carl Milles and Marshall Fredericks also spent many years in residence at Cranbrook. You can stroll through the gardens and view the outdoor sculptures and examine the interesting exterior design of the buildings (fourteen buildings making up the Cranbrook complex were added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1973, and were further designated a National Historic Landmark in 1989, cited as being "one of the most important groups of educational and architectural structures in America"), visit Cranbrook House, and check out the Institute of Science (don't miss the planetarium and the stegosaurus) and visit the contemporary art collection in the Art Museum. Also, take a peek at what is being performed at St. Dunston's Playhouse. #cranbrook #explorebloomfieldhills #community #liveworkplaylocal #community #zimmerglimerealestate #hallandhunter #michiganliving #exploredetroit
